has it really come and gone...

The older I get the harder it is to believe that from Thanksgiving to New Years is really only about 5 weeks! The Christmas music is on and playing in my home, my car and my ipod at work. (Gotta soak it in while it's here!) Then there's the hustle and bustle of shoppers here and how everyone just seems to be in a better mood. Lights that are decorating town squares and homes bring spectacular eye-candy and with a little time off for people everywhere from the normal routine of life, Christmas parties, gatherings and family affairs bring us all together!
Awh yes, it's my favorite time of year-besides my birthday :) And really its not the gifts. It's the set aside time, the availability, the gathering together of people you rarely get to hangout with.

It's hard to believe what seemed like the longest winter break growing up, is almost over already! Sigh...

I ventured home to my parent's house on last Wednesday and my younger brother and I soaked up being the only children for 5 days! It's not quite the same not having little kids around, but my mom always does an amazing job of making it a great time. Since it was just the four of us and the electricity went out Thursday morning, we decided to just open our gifts then. We then cleaned up and went into town to do a little more shopping and watch a movie. That left us with Christmas day to just cook and relax. My dad helped me chop down a few small trees and slice them up for a little art project I've been thinking about. I'll post some pics when I get it finished. Then Saturday we invited over some family friends and old high school friends to hangout and had a great time! Sunday we went to church and then a friend of mine caught a ride with me back down to Dallas and we had some great catching up time.

Wow... I didn't unpack anything when i got back, but hungout with my roommate and then hit the ground running Monday morning. Back to work and another short week! Last night I worked out after work and then got my new keyboard set up, organized all my files that were overflowing, made a fire, cleaned out a ton of old stuff I need to get rid of and put my art project together. It was a full but fulfilling night!

It's like during this time of season it doesn't matter how late you stay up or what you 'need' to do, I tend to drop everything for friends and family and soak it up while I can. It's raining out right now and the news says we're in for another blizzard, but I'm doubtful since the temp today and tomorrow is in the upper 40's. But we'll see. Countdown to 2010 is 3 days!!!
